“Otherwise, it will be impossible for me to accept the award,” said Mosharraf who is now staying in Malaysia.
He, however, told Prothom Alo, “Comic roles, to me, are as important as any other ones. But, the role I played in ‘Komola Rocket’ can never be termed a comic role.”
“The screenplay writer, filmmaker, cast and crew of the film as well as the viewers would agree with me,” he added. Mosharraf for ‘Komola Rocket’ (2018) and Afzal Sharif for ‘Pobitro Bhalobasha’ (2018) were declared the National Film Award-2018 winners for Best Actor in a Comic Role on 7 November.
The jury of the National Film Award are professor Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan, actor Enamul Haque, singer Fakir Alamgir, daily Bhorer Kagoj editor Shyamal Dutta, music director Hasan Motiur Rahman, actress Rawshan Ara Rozina, Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association president Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar and Bangladesh Cinematographer Society’s joint secretary general Tapan Ahmed.
