Following the two-year ban, with one year that of suspended from all forms of cricket, Bangladesh premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been removed from his pole position of the ICC ODI all-rounder’s chart and also from all three categories(all-rounder, batting, bowling) of the latest ICC ODI and T20I rangkings.
Shakib, who reclaimed his top place from Rashid Khan before the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England, has also been disappeared from the top 100 players’ lists in the updated ICC ODI rankings.
As per the new standings published by the ICC yesterday, England World Cup winner Ben Stokes dethroned Shakib to claim the No1 spot in the ICC ODI all-rounder’s lists with 319 points. Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi follows Stokes to place at no 2 with 307 points and Pakistan’s Imad Wasim (295 points) currently placed at third position.
Before the ICC ban on Shakib came into effect, Shakib topped the ODI all-rounder’s lists with 406 points.
Shakib, earlier, ranked second on the T20I all-rounder’s standings, also found nowhere in the updated T20I rankings released by the ICC.
The 32-year-old ace all-rounder was placed at 9th position on the bowling and 32nd on the batting rankings in T20Is prior to the India series, eventually went missing from both the standings.
In the updated ICC T20I all rounder rankings, Tigers’ new T20 captain Mahmudullah Riyad earned his place at No 4 with 225 points. With Shakib no longer available in the standings, Afghanistan all rounder Mohammad Nabi moved up to the top with 339 points while Australian Glenn Maxwell (333 points) slipped to No 2 spot.
In the T20I batting rankings, Pakistan’s Babar Azam, now leading the table with 876 points while Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan placed at top position in the T20I bowling standings.
However, the iconic all-rounder still retained his No 3 place in the world Test rankings.
In the latest ICC Test rankings, Australian Steve Smith and Pat Cummins topped the batting and bowling lists with 937 and 908 points while West Indies Test skipper Jason Holder grabbed the pole position of the all-rounders’ charts with 472 points.
Earlier on October 29, the ICC imposed sanction on Shakib for failing to report corrupt approaches to the ACSU on three separate occasions. Later on, he accepted all the three charges and his failure to report the corrupt approaches.
